2017 was the 200th anniversary of the reintroduction of the gold sovereign, with the classic St George and the dragon design.

Royal Mint Museum commissioned Tuch to develop an exhibition at Goldsmith’s Hall in the City of London to commemorate this. Goldsmith’s Hall is the home of the trial of the Pyx and this was their first visiting exhibition. It was based on content from the book The History of the Sovereign, Chief Coin of the World by Museum director Kevin Clancy which we also designed and produced.

In January 2018 we were briefed to transform this into a small display for Bairds’ newly refurbished showroom in Hatton Garden, London’s jewellery district. Again it was their first visiting exhibition, but in a very different space. The objects in three showcases included historic and modern gold coins and a splendidly refurbished victorian machine used to change valuable gold sovereigns and half sovereigns into more usable silver change.

We also produced a short film presentation showing related objects from the museum’s collection shown on a 90 inch screen. The display runs until the end of April 2018.
