What connects Terry Pratchett and Kenneth Graham, and what did the author of Robinson Crusoe and the funder of the Bank of England get up to?

You can find the answers to this, and learn more about the face on the £10 note - Jane Austen - at our current exhibition, Stories from the City; Literature at the Bank of England.

Stories from the City traces the history of the Bank of England, and the City of London, in literature. Starting with the appearance of Jane Austen on the new banknotes the exhibition goes on to explore authors with connections to the Bank of England, including Charles Dickens and PG Wodehouse, and writers who worked for the Bank. Visitors are encouraged to recommend related books for inclusion in the final display case.

In addition to graphics and display we designed literary bunting, interactive books and a centrepiece display of a giant nib made from Bank clerk’s pens from the Museum’s collection.
